# Structural support for languages and international values

## Supported character sets <a href="#character-sets" id="character-sets"></a>

Structural can work with the following character sets:

* ASCII
* UTF-8
* UTF-16

## Sensitivity detection in other languages <a href="#sensitivity-detection-other-languages" id="sensitivity-detection-other-languages"></a>

Structural's rule-based sensitivity detection is limited to English values.

To detect values in other languages requires a connection to an LLM. For more information, go to [AI in Structural](/app/structural-ai-and-agent/structural-ai-use.md).

## Detection of national identifiers <a href="#identifier-detection" id="identifier-detection"></a>

Structural currently supports the following generators to identify and replace government identifiers:

* [SSN](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/ssn.md) - United States Social Security Numbers.
* [SIN](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/sin.md) - Canadian Social Insurance Number.
* [FNR](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/fnr.md) - Norwegian national identity number.
* [Finnish Personal Identity Code](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/finnish-personal-identity-code.md)

To detect other national identifiers requires a connection to an LLM. For more information, go to [AI in Structural](/app/structural-ai-and-agent/structural-ai-use.md).

## Address value replacement <a href="#address-values" id="address-values"></a>

The Structural [Address](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/address.md) generator is currently based on addresses in the United States.

The [International Address](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/international-address.md) generator is limited to specific values in Canada and the United Kingdom.

For other international address values, consider the following workarounds:

* Use the [Custom Categorical](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/custom-categorical.md) generator, and use the LLM option to prompt the generator to create a set of realistic values. For example, `Generate a list of 40 cities and towns in France`.
* Use the [Categorical](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/categorical.md) generator to reuse the existing values in the source data.

## Datetime value replacement <a href="#datetime-values" id="datetime-values"></a>

The [Random Timestamp](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/random-timestamp.md) and [Timestamp Shift](/app/generation/generators/generator-reference/timestamp-shift-generator.md) generators support a wide range of datetime formats.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.tonic.ai/app/readme-1/internationalization-support.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
