Configuring the Data Agent behavior

You can configure how the Data Agent behaves. There are configuration options for your individual profile, for each workspace, and for the account.

For the Agent Instructions setting, which is available for all three, the most specific configuration has the highest priority. For example, the user profile configuration has a higher priority than the workspace configuration, which has a higher priority than the account configuration.

Displaying the Data Agent configuration settings

To display the Agent Instructions panel, in the Data Agent heading, click the agent instructions icon.

The Agent Instructions panel provides access to the agent instructions for the current user, the workspace, and the account. The Workspace page is limited to workspace owners, and the Account page is limited to account owners.

It also displays the agent instructions for the current database, and any custom skills that you configured for the workspace.

Settings pages

The User Settings page includes an Agent Settings section. All users can configure the Agent behavior for their profile.

The workspace settings page includes the Agent Instructions setting. Only workspace owners can configure the Agent behavior for a workspace.

On the Account Settings page, the AI page contains the Agent Instructions setting. Only account owners can configure the Agent behavior for the account.

Setting Data Agent verbosity (user profile only)

In the Agent Settings section of User Settings, the Verbosity setting indicates how much explanation the Agent provides as it performs its tasks.

For the Verbosity setting, click the slider above the option to use, or slide the slider to the option:

• Succinct - The Agent provides the bare minimum of explanation.

• Default - The Agent provides a balanced amount of explanation.

• Verbose - The Agent provides very detailed explanations of all of its processes and actions.

Setting Data Agent autonomy (user profile only)

In the Agent Settings section of User Settings, the Autonomy setting indicates how often the Agent asks for confirmation before it performs an action.

For the Autonomy setting, click the slider above the option to use, or slide the slider to the option:

• Cautious - The Agent always asks for confirmation before it makes any change.

• Default - The Agent sometimes asks for confirmation, but not always.

• Fearless - The Agent rarely asks for confirmation.

Providing Agent instructions (user, workspace, and account)

The agent instructions settings on the Agent Instructions panel or the settings pages provide a set of context rules for the Agent to remember across sessions and databases.

Having the context can save you from having to repeat instructions for each database.

Some examples of context rules:

• Column names always use snake_case.

• Mailing addresses are always in the United States.

In the agent instructions field for the account, workspace, or user, provide the context information.
