# Using Autonomous mode

## About Autonomous mode

For a very large, long-running workflow, you might not want to or even be able to respond to prompts and questions from the Data Agent.

Autonomous mode allows the Data Agent to plan and complete an action without ever asking a question or making a plan to review. It makes its own assumptions and decisions about the data to generate.

## Changing to Autonomous mode

To change to Autonomous mode, click the mode indicator, then select **Autonomous**.

While Autonomous mode is in effect, the Data Agent indicates the actions that it performs, but it does not ask any questions.
